Original WW2 Indian Made British Army Officers Shirt - Size 16

SOLD

Code: 52555

A nice original Indian made British Army Officers wool shirt which belonged to Major T Rothwell who served in the Far East with the Royal Engineers during WW2.

This pattern or shirt is often referred to as the 'Indian' pattern as it was made in India. This style was commonly worn by officers serving in the Far East and has all the usual traits of a theatre made piece such as irregular stitching and noticeably different buttons.

The shirt is made from a khaki coloured flannel cloth and features a half placket front. Pleated chest pockets are located to the chest and feature scalloped pocket flaps and epaulettes can be found on each shoulder. The shirt also features a stand and fall collar and a barrel cuff.

When laid flat the shirt measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 17"
Length at front - 31 1/2"
Length at back - 34"
Collar - 16"

The shirt is in very good condition and shows only limited signs of wear and use. There is however a mark to the left sleeve and two very small holes to the tail of the shirt which are only noticeable on close inspection. Overall the shirt is very good but please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item of nearly 80 years old which has small issues commensurate with age.

A very nice period shirt with some excellent details!
