Original 1952 Dated Australian Army Blouson Jacket

£90.00 Approx $112.08, €104.65

Code: 52476

An original 1952 dated Australian Army cotton drill battledress jacket in new old stock, un-issued condition.

This jacket is a deadstock example fresh from a bail as it left the factory in 1953. It is made from a tan coloured cotton drill - the same as was used for Khaki Drill uniforms in the 1940s and 1950s. It is cut in a short, 'blouson' style, the same as Battledress of the period. It features a brass 'Lightning' brand zipper to fasten the front, patch pockets to the chest and waist adjusters to each side of the waistband. Brass press studs are fitted throughout and are used to fasten the pockets, epaulettes and cuffs.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present. The top half features the usual 'Regimental Number' and 'Name' sections found on Australian military clothing. Below this is the maker's name of 'Reliance Manf. Co.', the 1952 date, the size of 5 and the words 'Made in Australia'. The Australian acceptance stamp is also stamped to the inside of the waistband featuring the DD with broad arrow marking.

As the jacket is in new old stock condition, the paper label is still present to the front and bears details pertaining to size. The jacket is a small size which is designed to fit a 35" chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Waist - 16"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 16"
Length - 21 1/2"

As previously stated the jacket is in excellent, unworn condition being straight out of the bail it left the factory in. There may be very small signs of age but overall the jacket is very bright and fresh and there is wear.

A great looking jacket that would make a nice casual jacket if teamed with a pair of high waisted trousers.
