Original 1950s Men's Cotton Drill Summer Trousers by 'Selrig'

SOLD

Code: 52472

An original pair of British summer trousers made by 'Selrig' in the 1950s.

These trousers are typical of those worn in the summer months by men in Great Britain in the post-war period. They are made from a heavy weight cotton drill material which is a beige colour - much lighter than the khaki drill items made for the military. In keeping with the period, the trousers are cut with a high rise waist and wide leg. They feature a button fly, twin pleated front, waist adjusters and a ticket pocket. The slash pockets at the hip are angled as is common in the post-war period and the rear features a single pocket which is a classic trait of British menswear.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and bears the maker's name 'Selrig' as well as the words 'Empire made'.

The trousers will suit someone of around a 34" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Waist - 17 1/4"
Rise - 13"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 42 1/2"
Cuff - 9 3/4"

The trousers are in good condition and have clearly been well looked after. They show only limited signs of wear and there is some minor soiling as can be seen in the pictures. Overall the present is very good but please bear in mind that these are vintage, pre-worn trousers.

A nice pair of 1950s trousers with typical period details.
