Original 1950s Green Cotton Zip Front British Overalls

SOLD

Code: 52356

An intersting original set of green cotton overalls made by 'R.F.D' in the 1950s.

These overalls appear to be made from a cotton drill which is dyed a bottle green colour. According to the label the material has a flame resistant quality which would suggest they were originally purchased for a specific job role. The overalls feature a long 'lightning' brand zipper which is typical of the era as well as pleated breast pockets with scalloped pockets which fasten with white revolving shank buttons. Through the centro of the garment is an integral belt. There are also belt loops so these would have originally had a detachable waist belt.  A spanner pocket is also present to the right hand leg.

Inside the overalls the original manufacturer's label is still present and bears the name 'R. F. D. Ltd'. There are various details to the label and the original owner has added his name in ink below it.

The overalls are designed to be worn over clothes and are cut in an oversize manner for this reason. When laid flat they measure -

Chest - 24 1/2"
Waist - 23"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Inside leg - 27"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"

The overalls are in worn condition with lots of signs of wear and use. There is some staining as well as some patches and a couple of small holes near the crotch. Please study the pictures provided and bear in mind that you are looking at a pre-worn piece of workwear which has small issues commensurate with age.

A very interesting set of mid Century overalls with a great zip and other fantastic period details and repairs!
