Original 1940s White Laboratory Coat by 'C.W.S'

SOLD

Code: 52262

An original 1940s White Laboratory Coat made by C.W.S and in good condition.

This style of coat was worn by a wide variety of different people in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s including doctors, lab technicians and factory workers - essentially any work environment that needs a work coat in white.

It is made from cotton drill, as was most workwear in this period. It features white coloured revolving shank buttons which are again common to find in this period. The coat features a single breasted front, notched lapel, long sleeves and patch pockets to the front. It is a typically utilitarian design.

Inside the coat the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of C.W.S with the wheatsheaf logo. C.W.S stands for the co-operative workers society, better known today as the Co-op. The style name is also present as 'Shield' as is the size of 40" which refers to the chest size.

When laid flat the coat measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 14 1/2"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 43"

The coat is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are only limited signs of wear and age but please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned vintage item.

A nice vintage utility coat with a great label!
