Original 1940s French Striped Wool Trousers

SOLD

Code: 52216

An original pair of French striped trousers made in the 1940s.

These trousers are typical of those worn by men in France in the 1930s and 1940s. The trousers are made from a navy blue and white striped wool which was a popular choice for casual wear in France during the late 1930s and 1940s with lots of pictures showing this style being worn by civilians and members of the resistance during the war. The trousers feature a high rise waist and a wide leg with turn up to the trousers cuff, all of which are typical period features. Waist adjusters can be found at the hips and belt loops are positioned around the waist.

The trousers have clearly never been worn and could be described as 'Dead Stock'. The original card label is still present at the rear of the trousers which bears details pertaining to style number and size. There is also a swatch of extra material tacked to the inside of the trousers which is designed to be kept for use in repairing or altering the trousers.

The trousers are a small size which will suit someone of around a 26" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 13 1/2"
Rise - 12"
Inside leg - 26 1/2"
Outside leg - 37 1/2"
Cuff - 8"

The trousers are in good condition for their age with no signs of wear or use. There is some minor staining as can be seen in the pictures and a couple of moth nips to the legs as detailed in the pictures. These flaws are only noticeable on close inspection and don't really detract from a very nice pair of trousers. Please study the pictures and remember that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage work trousers which may have other small issues consummate with their age.

A nice pair of classic French 1940s trousers which would make a great addition to your wardrobe!
