Original 1940s CC41 Wool Collared Pink and White Striped Shirt

£75.00 Approx $93.4, €87.51

Code: 52204

A scarce original 1940s men's collared shirt complete with its original CC41 label.

This shirt was made as part of the CC41 utility scheme which was brought into effect in the UK in 1941 as part of the larger rationing scheme. The idea behind it was that affordable, quality clothing would be available to everyone of every class and could be bought using coupons.

The shirt is typical of those made and worn during the 1940s. The shirt is made from white and red candy stripe wool flannel and is of half placket design, which is pulled on over the head. The shirt features a nice spearpoint collar shape, typical of the era. The sleeves feature a barrel cuff which fastens with buttons.

Inside the shirt the original label is still present and bears the CC41 logo. It features no fabric code which would suggest that this is an early example.

The shirt is a smaller size which will suit a 36" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 21 3/4"
Inside arm - 22""
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 16"
Length at front - 31 1/2"
Length at back - 34"
Collar - 14 1/2"

It is important to remember that these shirts are cut very wide across the chest to allow them to be pulled on over the head so the true fit will be much smaller than the measurement provided.

The shirt is in reasonable condition but has a variety of staining as can be seen in the pictures. This is a far from perfect shirt but it may be possible to clean some of the marks out with the right knowledge. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

Whilst the condition is far from perfect this is still an original British collar shirt from the 1940s which bears the sought after CC41 label.
