An original Royal Air Force Parachute Bag dating from the Second World War and in good condition.
These bags were used throughout the Second World War and are now synonymous with Aircrew, particularly Bomber Command, during this period. This example belonged to Flight Sergeant Cash who flew Hadrian (better know as Waco CG-4) Gliders with 670 Squadron in the Far East.
The bag is made from a heavy khaki canvas and features two reinforcing straps which run the entire circumference of the bag, becoming handles at the top. The bag fastens with a 'Lightning' brand bras zipper which is typical of the period. The Air Ministry crown and AM marking is present to the exterior of the bag which is a nice detail.
The bag is in very good condition with only some signs of wear and use which are to be expected with a bag of this vintage. Both handles are in good condition and the exterior of the bag still retains a nice deep buff colour. The zipper works well although there is s tear to the fabric which is again shown in the pictures. As long as the bag is treated with care this won't get any worse. The bag displays well but please study the pictures before purchasing.
All in all a nice bag which displays well. These are becoming rare and sought after bags and it would make a great addition to any collection.
