Original WW2 British War Aid Khaki Drill Shorts

SOLD

Code: 52146

An original pair of British Khaki Drill Shorts made in America during the Second World War.

These shorts were made in the United States of America as part of the lend-lease scheme and are often referred to as 'War Aid'. Made from a high quality, khaki coloured cotton drill; the shorts are modelled on the British 1941 pattern. The feature the twin belt and buckle waist fastening and First Field Dressing Pocket to the right hip. The buttons and buckles used are typically American as are the labels to the interior.

Sadly the interior labels have been washed out but the size of 4 is stamped in ink directly to one of the pocket bags. War Aid clothing was only made up until the end of hostilities confirming these as being of guaranteed wartime manufacture.

The shorts will suit someone of around a 29" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 14 3/4"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 8"
Outside leg - 22"
Cuff - 13"

The shorts are in great condition and are very wearable with only limited signs of previous wear and use. They have been starched for smartness giving them a slightly stiff feel but this could be washed out. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn vintage military shorts.

A nice pair of original American made shorts which date from the Second World War. A hard pattern to find today which would make a great addition to any collection or wardrobe.
