Original 1920s Dark Grey Tweed Waistcoat

An original men's waistcoat dating from the 1920s. 

The cut of this waistcoat is typical of the 1920s and earlier. The biggest indicator of this is the shape of the bottom of the garment which is reasonably flat. By the 1930s and for the next three decades, this shape became much more pointed and pronounced. The waistcoat is made of a charcoal grey coal coloured tweed like wool which is thick and soft. It fastens with five buttons and features four welt pockets to the front. The rear features the usual cinchback belt and buckle arrangement whilst the interior features a full lining. 

Small buttons are fitted around the inside of the neck to which a collar could be attached. This is a feature often encountered on waistcoats of this period which was designed to make them more versatile. 

The waistcoat will suit someone of around a 36" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures - 

Chest - 18"
Length - 23"

The overall condition of the garment is very good. It displays well and is very wearable with only limited signs of wear and age. It is a vintage item however so may have small issues commensurate with age.
