Rare 1940s CC41 Teal Grey Men's Flannel Trousers

SOLD

Code: 52077

A rare pair of original 1940s teal - grey coloured men's flannel trousers made as part of the CC41 utility clothing scheme.

These trousers were made as part of the CC41 utility scheme which was brought into effect in the UK in 1941 as part of the larger rationing scheme. The idea behind it was that affordable, quality clothing would be available to everyone of every class and could be bought using coupons.

Typical of the period in every way these trousers feature a high rise waist, super wide leg with 10 3/4" cuffs, a button fly and waist adjusters. The front of the trousers feature twin pleats and angled slash pocket whilst the rear features a single welt pocket which is rarely seen but very in keeping with the utility design. Turn ups are located to the bottom of each leg as was fashionable during the mid-Century period and buttons are fitted around the inside of the waist band to which braces can be attached.

Inside the trousers there are no maker labels or markings but there is a CC41 label which bears the fabric code of 208A.

The trousers have some adjustment to the waist and will fit someone of around a 29" waist. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 15"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 17"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 10 3/4"

The trousers are in good condition for their age and are very wearable. There is some slight discolouration to the rear seams although this is not noticeable when worn. There Is a rust mark around the hook and eye fitting at the waist but this is again not noticeable when worn. There is also an area of fraying along the top edge of the trousers which is detailed on the pictures. Aside from these small flaws the trousers display very well but please study the pictures as these are a pre-worn pair of vintage trousers which are over 70 years old.

A very rare pair of casual trousers from the 1940s with the sought-after CC41 label. These would make an impressive addition to any wardrobe or collection without a doubt.
