Stunning 1930s Brown Herringbone Wool Three Button Jacket

SOLD

Code: 52076

A stunning original men's herringbone wool three button casual jacket dating from the late 1930s.

This jacket is typical of those worn by men in the UK in the late 1930s and 1940s. It is made from a stunning two tone brown herringbone wool and features a three button front and a pronounced lapel, as was fashionable during this period. The cuff features a single button indicating that this is a casual jacket, most likely never part of a suit, and would have been worn with slacks or grey flannel trousers. The jacket is cut short in the body and features no rear vent and padded shoulders which are again common features for jackets of this vintage.

The inside of the jacket is fully lined in a brown rayon. An inside pocket is present to the usual place and the sleeves are lined with a striped material. There are no labels in the coat.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit someone of around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 19"
Inside arm - 18 1/4"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 28 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition for its age and is still very wearable. There is a very small repair to the rear shoulder as is shown in the pictures. This is only noticeable on very close inspection. There is also some superficial damage to the surface of the lining but this does not overly detract from the garment which displays very well. Please study the pictures and remember that this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A fantastic original casual jacket which is a must have for any 1930s or 1940s wardrobe!
