Original 1950s Royal Engineers Officers Khaki Drill Tunic

SOLD

Code: 51982

An original British Army officer's Khaki Drill tunic dating from the 1950s.

This tunic originally belonged to a Lieutenant of the Royal Engineers who served in the 1950s. It is made from a khaki coloured cotton and is cut in the traditional style with pleated chest pockets with scalloped flaps, lower bellows pockets, a full waist belt, long sleeves and epaulettes. The jacket is fitted with brass Royal Engineers collar badges and brass 'RE' shoulder titles. Rank stars are also fitted to the epaulettes and there are two popstuds to the chest where a detachable badge has previously been fitted - possibly an aircrew qualification wing? The buttons are Queen's crown staybrite Royal Engineers examples.

The tunic will suit someone of around a 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 27"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 33 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use. There is a slight amount of staining as can be seen in the pictures. Please take the time to study them before purchasing.

A good original post-war Khaki Drill tunic complete with its original badges.
