Original 1940s Men's Cream Flannels by 'Unwin'.

SOLD

Code: 51881

An original pair of men's cream flannels made by 'Unwin' in the 1940s.

This style of trousers was extremely popular with men in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. They were usually worn with a boating or club blazer with matching tie and cream shoes. A boater hat or cricket cap was often worn with this ensemble. They were also worn for sporting events and are now often referred to as 'cricket flannels' because of their affiliation with the sport.

The trousers are cut in a typically 1940s fashion featuring a high rise waist and wide leg with a turn up to the cuff. The fly fastens with buttons with more buttons fitted around the inside edge of the waistband to support braces. The exterior of the waistband features belt loops and side adjusters - a typical period feature. A single pocket is found at the rear of the trousers which fastens with a button.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and reads 'Unwin' in typical period graphics.

The trousers will suit someone of around a 30" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15"
Rise - 12 1/2"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 27 1/2"
Outside leg - 39"
Cuff - 9"

The trousers are in reasonable condition for their age with various signs of wear and use and there is some staining. The hook and eye fastener at the waist has been repaired as shown in the pictures. Please study the pictures carefully and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn vintage item with some flaws.

A nice original pair of 1940s cream flannel trousers which whilst far from perfect are very wearable.
