An original white PVC Oilskin coat dating from the 1930s and in well worn condition.
Oilskin coats were popular throughout the mid Century period and used in numerous professions. Whilst they are normally black this example is white which is much rarer to find. The coat is made from a white oilskin pvc material which features a cotton backing as found on rubberised items of the period. It features a partial lining to the top which is checked, to which a brass hanging chain and would indicate pre-war manufacture. Under each arm brass eyelets are fitted which are again typical of the period.
The coat is a smaller size and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 44 1/2"
The coat is in well worn condition with plenty of signs of use and wear. There is plenty of staining and discolouration and a variety of period repairs. The coat also has some odour which is typical of these oilskin items. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage work item which is in far from perfect condition.
A rare coat with some fantastic details!
