Original WW2 British Theatre Made Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

SOLD

Code: 51838

An original Second World War theatre made British Khaki Drill tunic, most likely made in India.

This jacket is made in the bush jacket style which came into issue with British forces from 1942. It is an economy pattern which features plain patch pockets to the chest, flapped lower pockets, long sleeves with a buttoning cuff and a stand and fall collar. The buttons are butterscotch coloured horn examples and the jacket features the rough style of stitching usually found on theatre made items. There is evidence of where diamond shape formation badges have been previously fitted to the jacket and the epaulettes show signs of having had officers rank stars fitted.

Inside the tunic the original maker's stamp can just be made out but is sadly no longer legible. A first field dressing pocket can also be found to the interior fitted to one of the lower pocket bags which is an interesting position.

The tunic is a medium size which will fit around a 38-40" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 1/4"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 25 1/4"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"
Length - 31"

The tunic is in reasonable condition for its age with various signs of wear and age. There is some staining and one of the front buttons is partly broken as shown in the pictures. It appears to be wearable but is a vintage item with some small issues commensurate with age.

A good original WW2 period tunic which would make a nice addition to your collection!
