Original 1930s Men's Collarless Wool Shirt by 'Radiac'

SOLD

Code: 51790

An original 1930s wool collarless shirt by 'Radiac' in a large size.

This shirt is typical of those made and worn during the 1930s and 1940s. It is made from an oatmeal coloured wool which has a blue pinstripe running through it. It is of half placket design which is pulled on over the head. This design was prevalent from the Victorian period through to the 1950s when full button front shirts started to gain popularity.

The collar is neckband style made from white cotton. It is designed to be worn with a detachable collar but can also be worn without one. Below this the original label is still present to the interior and features typical 1930s graphics. The brand name 'Radiac' is present against a rising sun and features the tagline 'Warmth without shrinkage'. The cuffs are barrel style which have a button but can also be fitted with cufflinks.

The shirt is a large size and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 23 1/2"
Outside arm - 26 3/4"
Shoulders - 20 1/4"
Length - 35"
Collar - 18"

It is important to remember that these shirts are cut very wide across the chest to allow them to be pulled on over the head so the true fit will be much smaller than the measurement provided.

The shirt is in reasonable condition for its age but does have various staining as can be seen in the pictures. This has been reflected in the price but please take time to study the pictures.

An original pre-war period shirt with a great label. It would suit a variety of wartime uniforms including LDV, Home Guard and many more.
