Original 1950s Sage Green Doeskin Waistcoat by 'Osborne & Calverley'

SOLD

Code: 51749

An original six button doeskin waistcoat by 'Osborne & Caverley' in a sage green.

This type of waistcoat was extremely popular with men during the 1950s and 60s and formed a part of many wardrobes throughout this period. This example is impossible to date exactly but the labels appear to be 1950s.

The waistcoat features two upper welt pockets and lower flapped pockets to the front and mother of pearl style buttons. The backing is typical of the period and features a cinch back as many waistcoats do.

Inside the waistcoat retains its original manufacturers labels. The first states 'Pure wool & Cashmere cloth made in England' with a second smaller label below this reads 'Baronia'. The makers name of 'Osborne & Caverley' of Huddersfield is also present.

The waistcoat will suit someone of around a 42" chest depending on desired fit and measures a bit more than 21 1/4" pit to pit and 24 1/2" in length.

The overall condition of the waistcoat appears to be very good as can be seen in the photographs. It is very wearable and displays well but may have small issues commensurate with age.

These doeskin waistcoats are quintessentially English and are still a great choice today!
