Original Inter-War British Khaki Drill Tunic

SOLD

Code: 51644

An original British Military Khaki Drill Tunic dating from the inter-war period.

This tunic is typical od those made in the interwar period. It is made from a khaki coloured cotton drill and a stand collar, no breast pockets and a five button front which fastens with brass General Service buttons. The epaulettes have been removed and the cuff has been altered as detailed in the pictures.

Inside the tunic is a fly which houses the brass split rings and stops them from catching on clothing worn under the tunic. Between the two layers of cotton drill is a layer of waxed lined as is commonly found on items made in the Edwardian and inter-war periods and serves to help give a rough date of the garment.

The tunic is a small size which will fit around a 36-38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length 29"

The tunic is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are no signs of serious or undue wear but there maybe small issues commensurate with age.

An early KD jacket which could suit a collector or re-enactor.
