Original 1940s CC41 Collared Shirt by 'Stamana'

SOLD

Code: 51591

A stunning original men's collared shirt made by 'Stamana' in the 1940s as part of the CC41 clothing scheme.

This shirt is typical of those made during the 1940s in Great Britain. It's made from a soft blue pinstriped cotton flannel and features a large spearpoint collar, as were popular during this period. The shirt was made as part of the CC41 utility scheme which was brought into effect in the UK in 1941 as part of the larger rationing scheme. The idea behind it was that affordable, quality clothing would be available to everyone of every class and could be bought using coupons. The CC41 label incorporates a fabric code which has an X prefix which means this shirt most likely dates from the later half of the decade.

The shirt is a smaller size which will suit someone of around a 34-36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 3/4"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Length - 34"
Collar - 15"
Shoulders - 17

The shirt is in very nice condition with only limited signs of wear and use. The fabric is still bright with some minor staining around the inside edge of the collar. It is a vintage item which is 70+ years old so may have small issues commensurate with age.

Overall this is a lovely shirt made from a fantastic cloth and featuring a great collar. The all important and CC41 label is present making this a collectable in its own right!
