An original Royal Air Force Officers Khaki Drill Bush Jacket dating from the 1940s and in good condition.
This tunic appears to be a well tailored theatre made example, typical of those bought by RAF officers whilst stationed in the Middle East and Far East. It features black plastic RAF Kings crown buttons and a matching black painted brass waist buckle. Four buttons fasten the front and the collar is designed to be worn open as shown in the pictures with no top button or button hole fitted. There are some cotton loops to the chest above the left breast pocket which were most likely used to support an aircrew brevet.
Due to the fact that this is a private purchase example there are no labels or other markings making it impossible to date exactly. It is however typical of those seen during the Second World War and most likely does date from this period.
The tunic is a medium size which will fit around a 34" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 18 1/2"
Waist - 14 3/4"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 16"
The tunic is in very good condition for its age with only limited signs of wear and use. Overall it presents very well and is very wearable. Please study the pictures.
All in all a very nice private purchase tunic dating from the 1940s and with some great details.
