A nice example of a 1940s period Private purchase RAF side cap with orignal brass RAF cap badge.
These higher quality caps are usually associated with officers as they had more money to spend on privately made items, however this example would appear to by an ordinary airmans example.
The hat is in very good condition as can be seen in the photographs. The blue Barathea wool is in good condition as has a constant colour to it. The lining appears to be rayon and is in good shape, showing little sign of wear.
The label inside states the size at 7 3/8 so a very generous size.
