A 1944 dated example of the RAF Ordinary Airmans Forage Cap made by J. Collett.
The blue serge is still a bright blue colour as it would have been when it came out of the factory. It has clearly never been washed and has not seen heavy use.
The cap features two brass kings crown RAF buttons to the front and an original brass kings crown example amp badge to one side which features and interesting securing pin which was fitted by its original owner.
Inside the blue indigo sweatband lining is in good condition and bares the usual War Department broad arrow stamp and letter code. The black lining of the cap is also in good condition and the original white stamping is still clear. The date of 1944 is very clear as is the War Department broad arrow and the maker 'J.Collett'.
All in all, a very nice original hat which would look great in any RAF collection.
