Original WW2 RAF Ordinary Airman’s Field Service Cap

SOLD

Code: 50752

An original WW2 RAF Ordinary Airman’s forage cap complete with matching brass cap badges.

These caps came into issue with the RAF shortly before the Second World War and were worn by all airman of the rank of Flight Sergeant and below. It is now an iconic piece of wartime RAF clothing synonymous with both Sergeant Aircrew and ground crew alike.

This particular example is typical of wartime manufacture. It features a brass Kings crown cap badge and two brass Kings crown RAF buttons to the front.

The condition of the cap is reasonable but there is some staining to the interior of the cap. This may come out with some careful cleaning. The exterior is nice with a well worn patina often found on authentic wartime caps such as this.

The hat is on the smaller side and I would estimate around a size 6 3/4.

All in all a nice original wartime example which would make a good addition to an RAF collection.
