Original WW2 RAF OA KD Tunic

SOLD

Code: 51031

An original RAF Ordinary Airman's Khaki Drill Tunic dating from the Second World War and complete with a set of theatre made insignia.

This Original RAF tunic came with the trousers listed below and both are named to '1008621 Walkden F' and have clearly always been together.

The tunic would appear to be an early example as it features a french cuff which later tunics did not have. As well as this it has a brass button to hold the waist buckle in place. This would be a green horn button on later tunics.

The tunic comes complete with a set of LAC insignia which looks to be Indian made and is clearly original to the jacket. Indian made badges like this were typically issued for use on KD during the Second World War and are clearly different to their British made counterparts being of much more crude construction. They set the tunic of very nicely.

The inside of the tunic retains its original issue label which would point to it being and British made example. Sadly it has washed out over time and is no longer legible. The original owner has also added his name in ink to the inside of the tunic.

The tunic also comes with a full set of brass RAF Kings crown buttons, a brass waist belt buckle and its original waist belt.

The tunic is a smaller size and will fit someone of around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 19"
Waist - 16 1/4"
Shoulders - 15 3/4"
Inside arm - 17 3/4"
Outside arm - 24"
Length - 27"

The overall condition of the tunic is reasonable for its age but it does show sins of age and service wear etc. Please study the pictures as these form part of the description.

All in all a nice original WW2 RAF OA KD tunic, the type of which is becoming increasingly hard to find.
