Original 1945 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Forage Cap - size 7 1/8

SOLD

Code: 11262

An original 1945 dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Forage cap in nice condition and a wearable size.

These caps came into issue with the RAF shortly before the Second World War and were worn by all airman of the rank of Flight Sergeant and below. It is now an iconic piece of wartime RAF clothing synonymous with both Sergeant Aircrew and ground crew alike.

This particular example is typical of late wartime manufacture. It features a black plastic Kings crown cap badge and two black economy Kings crown RAF buttons to the front.

Inside the cap still retains its original markers stamp which state the year of manufacture as 1945 and the size as 7 1/8. The War Department broad arrow is still in evidence and the makers name 'L. Silberstein & Sons' is also visible.

The condition of the cap is good as can be seen in the photographs. Whilst the cap has been worn it hasn't seen heavy use and still displays very well with limited signs of age and use.

All in all a very nice original war dated RAF OA cap which would suit both the collector and the re-enactor.
