Original 1940s British Officers RAF Style Khaki Drill Tunic

SOLD

Code: 51279

An original British Officers Khaki Drill Tunic cut in the RAF style and dating from around the time of the Second World War.

As with many Officers items and Khaki Drill items it is impossible to date this tunic exactly. It is does however date from the 1940s and is typical in construction of those worn during the Second World War. It is made from a tan coloured cotton drill and features long sleeves, epaulettes, pleated patch pockets to the chest and lower bellows pockets. The design of the tunic makes it ideal for for use as an RAF officers tunic as it has all the right details. All it needs is the buttons changing.

The tunic is fitted with 1940s revolving shank buttons as were often fitted to KD and workwear items during this period. All are held in place with the correct brass split rings.

The tunic will someone of around a 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 19"

The tunic is in good condition and displays well with only limited signs of wear and use. There is a hole to the bottom rear of the jacket as can be seen in the pictures. Overall it displays well with the usual signs of age expected of a jacket this age.

A nice original WW2 period tunic which could be worn as is or easily converted for RAF use, which may have been what it was originally made for.
