Original 1946 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers

SOLD

Code: 11240

A good original pair of RAF Ordinary Airman's trousers issued in 1946 and identical to wartime pattern.

This pattern of trousers came into use with the RAF during the 1930s and stayed in service well into the 1950s. The trousers feature a fishtail back, a slash pocket to each hip and black horn brace buttons around the outside of the trousers.

The original label is sadly no longer present inside the trousers although the War Department acceptance stamp is. It is surmounted by the letter 'E' which denotes 1946 as the year of issue. There is a possibility that the trousers were made earlier than this although usually the acceptance stamp matches the year of manufacture.

The trousers will suit someone of around a 30" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15 3/4"
Inside leg - 29"

The trousers are in good condition and are still very wearable. There is a stain to the bottom of the right leg and a couple of very small holes which are only noticeable on close inspection. One fly button is missing and the bottom-most button is broken but these are easily replaced.

All in all a good pair of RAF OA trousers dating from just after the Second World War. They would fill a gap in a collection or could be use for re-enactment.
