Fleet Air Arm C Type Flying Helmet with Wiring Loom

SOLD

Code: 50264

A good condition Fleet Air Arm C Type flying helmet complete with an original wiring Loom.

This particular helmet is a second pattern example which came into service during the last couple of years of the Second World War and features the elasticated chin strap.

The overall condition of the helmet is very good. The leather is still supple and all the pop studs work. There is a small tear to the stitched hole which takes the wiring loom below the ear piece on one side but other than this the exterior displays very well. The interior is also good showing signs of service wear but er really sound. There are a couple of tips to the right hand donut which has exposed the lining and there are also two whole to the lining at the back of the helmet, as can be seen in the photographs. This doesn't detract from the way the helmet displays.

This flying helmet has no internal markings but appears to be a good size 3 as it fits the display head very well.

Both the Zips on the ear pieces function perfectly and one puller still retains its original leather tab, which are nearly always missing. Inside the rubber cups which the receivers fit into are both intact and still retain the covers over the gosport tube fittings which can be seen from the outside of the helmet.

The helmet also comes complete with an original internal wiring loom although there are no receivers inside the ear pieces. The loom is grubby but very much in-keeping with the look of the helmet. The plastic bell plug is damaged as can be seen in the photographs but these are easily sourced and replaced.

Overall, a nice original wartime FAA C-type flying helmet in a good size which displays very nicely.

The MK VIII goggles pictured with the helmet are available separately.
