Original WW2 French Army Officers Tunic

SOLD

Code: 50951

An original French Army Officers Tunic tailored by 'L. Herbaut - Denneulin' in Roubaix. For those of you who know your BEF history you will recognise the place name as a town north of Lille which during 1939 and 1940 was a concentration area for both British and French troops. This ties in nicely with the age of the jacket which was clearly made in the late 1930s and therefore possibly during the Phoney War.

The tunic is the standard pattern used by Officers in the French Army during the Second World War. It is an Artillery regiment example and bares the rank of Lieutenant to each sleeve.

The jacket is extremely well made as can be seen in the pictures. The work to the interior is beautiful and typical of the period. The original makers label is also present and is again characteristic of the period.

The condition of the jacket is good with only limited signs of wear and age. There is one button missing, the collar insignia has been removed and there are a couple of small holes to the body of the tunic but overall it displays well. Please study the pictures as these form part of the description.

Altogether a nice example of a French Army officers tunic in good condition. Ideal for the collector and re-enactor alike!
