1939 Dated Royal Horse Guards No.1 Blues Tunic
SOLD
Code: 50004
For you consideration is a Pre-war dress tunic attributed to the Royal Horse Guards.
This tunic was made by Huntsman and sons in 1939 for a Lt.. H.T Kirwan-Taylor.
The tunic is in good overall condition as can be seen in the photographs. It retains all of its original RHG brass buttons and shows signs of previously having had insignia on the epaulettes.
There are a couple of holes in the tunic sadly so please study the photos. These do not detract from the way the tunic displays in my opinion.
The tunic is a small size 36-38" chest. It fits in my mannequin which has a 38" chest but is very tight.
The exact measurements of the jacket when laid flat are as follows -
Armpit to armpit: 19"
Top of collar to bottom of hem (at rear): 31"
Inside arm: 17"
Outside arm: 24"
Shoulder to Shoulder: 19"
The officer this tunic is named to, Kirwan-Taylor, can be found in the London gazette if you google his name.
All in all a nice example of a blues tunic to a prestigious regiment nicely dated and named.
