Original 1922 Pattern Service Dress Tunic Dated 1959

SOLD

Code: 50200

An immaculate, never issued 1922 pattern Service Dress tunic dated 1959.

This pattern of tunic closely resembles the tunics worn by the British Army during the Great War but came into use during the inter-war years. The 1922 pattern tunic was still widely in issue at the outbreak of the Second World War and saw issue throughout the war with MPs and Warrant Officers amongst others. After the Second World War these tunics were still produced in small numbers and issued to some units.

This jacket is labelled 'Jacket Service Dress O.R. No.1' and is identical in pattern to those issued during the 1930s and the Second World War featuring pleated chest pockets and buttoning lower pocket flaps. The label also states the jacket as being as size No. 8 which will fit a 38" chest and a 32" waist.

The jacket is in immaculate condition and has clearly never been issued. The serge the jacket is made from is perfect with no rips, tears or moth and the cotton drill lining is like new!

The jacket retains its original brass belt hangers on each hip and comes with a full set of original brass kings crown general service buttons.

Although dated 1959, this jacket would make a good stand in for a wartime dated 1922 pattern tunic, as these are now becoming very hard to find.

This jacket would be ideal for the collector or re-enactor alike. The condition is next to perfect - this jacket would truly be hard to better!
