A good wartime made example of the British Army 1940 pattern greatcoat in a hard to find larger size.
This pattern of coat came in to service to replace the 1939 pattern and saw wide issue throughout the Second World War on all fronts.
The greatcoat retains all of its original brass general service buttons to the front as well as the half belt at the back and has two wartime rubber buttons holding the bottom of the skirt closed.
Inside the coat the original label is still present and clearly states Size No. 8 which will fit up to a 43" chest over battledress. The date is also on the label and although faint, the numbers 1943 can be made out.
The coat is in good condition but does have a lot of white marks; some to the front and more inside. These may well dry clean out.The coat has obviously been in storage for many years.
All in all, a good example of a wartime British Army greatcoat in a hard to find larger size.
