1944 Dated Canadian Made Battledress Blouse With REME 49 Division insignia

SOLD

Code: 50245

A Beautiful 1944 dated Canadian made battledress with original wartime insignia in superb condition.

This fantastic blouse features original embroidered REME shoulder titles, printed 49th Division flashes and the three colour REME arm of service flash to each arm. All the insignia appears to be original to the jacket and there are also traces of where pips have been on the epaulettes.

The overall condition of the jacket is excellent as can be seen in the photographs. The serge is in very good shape with no rips, tears or signs of moth. There is however one white mark to the back of the collar.

The interior is also every clean showing only limited signs of wear. This was obviously a 'best' BD. Inside the jacket is the original makers stamp which states the jacket as being a generous size 9. The date, 1944, is also very clear. Below this is the Canadian War Department mark featuring a broad arrow surrounded by a 'C'.

Canadian made battledress was sort after by those in the British Army as it was considered to be of a higher quality than British made examples. When acquired these were usually used as 'best' jackets which is probably why examples like this one have survived.

A fantastic Normandy period original battledress blouse in excellent condition with all original insignia. A must have for the British Army in Normandy collector!
