1940 Dated British Army Khaki Drill Tunic

SOLD

Code: 50375

A rare 1940 Dated example of the British Army Khaki Drill Tunic in excellent condition.

The tunic features 5 large brass kings crown general service buttons to the front and 4 smaller examples which are fitted to the breast pockets and epaulettes.

This pre-war style tunic is virtually the same preen as Great War tunics with a stand collar and two great pockets.

This early Dated example still retains its original paper label which states the tunic as being a size No. 5 which fits up to a 37” chest. The label has the purple issue stamp to the bottom which is slightly smudged but reads August 1940.

To the left of the label is the War Department stamp of WD with a broad arrow between the two letters. This is surmounted by the letter ‘Q’ which confirms 1940 as the year of manufacture.

The condition of the tunic is excellent with no visible signs of wear. There are some marks however to the rear of the right sleeve but it displays very well none-the-less.

Overall an excellent example of this early style tunic in great condition complete with its original label. Tunics in this condition with nice early dates are becoming hard to find these days.
