An original WW2 British Army 1922 Pattern Ordinary Ranks tunic named to Corporal Harry Watmore who served with the Royal Army Medical Corps of 43rd Wessex Division in 1944/45.
The tunic is the standard pattern used during the Second World War. It is pre austerity pattern but does have a lined collar meaning it most likely dates from 1941-42. It features all of its original insignia including corporal stripes, brass RAMC shoulder titles and collar badges as well as a full set of RAMC brass buttons.
There are no labels or stamps that I can find inside the tunic but the original owner has added his name, rank and serial number to the lining in ink. The tunic is in very nice condition and displays very well indeed. It shows only very limited signs of service wear and there are no serious flaws that I can find. In terms of condition I think this tunic would be hard to better.
Harry Watmore served with the RAMC in North West Europe as part of 43rd Wessex division and received a letter from General Bernard Montgomery congratulating him on his outstanding service during the Campaign. A photocopy of this letter is included as is a photocopy of his medals and a picture of Harry, presumably taken in the early stages of the Second World War as he is wearing the 1922 pattern peaked cap.
The tunic is of an average size of the period of around a 38” chest. Please see the measurements below for more accurate sizing -

All in all a very nice original wartime Ordinary Ranks tunic with some nice history. The condition is fantastic and this would certainly make a great addition to any WW2 uniform collection.
