An original pair Khaki Drill Shorts made in the UK and dating from the 1950s.
These shorts are typical of those worn during the 1940s and 1950s by both military personal and civilians. This type of shorts were popular with men in the summer but could also be a private purchase pair bought by an Officer for use in the Army, Air Force or Navy serving overseas.
The shorts feature a pleated front and slash pockets as well as waist adjusters to the sides - a typical period feature and complete with their original buckles. The rear of the shorts sports a single pocket which fastens with a button which matches those used for the fly.
The waist adjusters mean they can be pulled in to a smaller size of course but when laid flat they measure -
The shorts are in very good condition for their age showing little to no sign of wear. The only flaw I can find is a small loss of stitching to the crotch as shown in the pictures. This is not visible when worn and would be easy to repair.
All in all a very good pair of mid-century KD shorts.
