Original 1952 Dated British Physical Training Shorts

An original pair of RAF 'Shorts, Gymnastic, Blue', often referred to as P.T Shorts.
This pattern of shorts was used for many years in both the British Army and Royal Air Force and could easily pass as a WW2 pair. Made from a deep blue cotton, the short feature and elasticated waist and a short button fly which fastens with black plastic buttons - the same style as found on War Service Dress.
Inside the shorts retain their original label which states the shorts as a size 3 which will fit around a 34" waist. The manufacturer is 'H. Anderton & Co. Ltd', the War Department Broad arrowing marking is present, as is the 1952 date. Another smaller label has been added by the original owner below this which reads 'S.A. Cooper'.
Due to their elasticated waist the shorts will fit a number of waist sizes. When laid flat they measure 12 1/2" across the waist and when stretched to their full extent 19".
The shorts are in good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. They are still very wearable and display well with a good washed-out, used look.
