Original 1942 Dated British Army Khaki Drill Tunic

SOLD

Code: 51178

An original British Army Khaki Drill Tunic dated 1942 and in an extra small size.

This pattern of tunic was used throughout the Second World War and may well have started life with long sleeves being later shortened by the Original owner. This style was used in both the Middle East and Far East campaigns amongst others.

The tunic features a full set of original brass kings crown buttons which are all held in place by the correct metal split rings used in this period. The right sleeve shows traces of where a corporal stripe has previous been attached as well as evidence of other badges.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present but sadly has washed out. The War Department broad arrow marking is still present however and is surmounted by the letter 'O' which denotes 1942 as the year of issue.

The original owner also marked his name in ink to the interior of the jacket which reads 'CPL SIMS'. There is also a service number inside the tunic which may warrant further research.

The tunic is a very small size measuring 17 1/4" pit to pit and 16" across the shoulders.

The tunic is in well worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It has various stains and signs of age and wear so please study the pictures and remember that this is a pre-worn vintage item which may have issues consummate with this.

All in all a very interesting tunic with a great, authentic look. This would suit a re-enactor or make an interesting addition to a collection.
