Original WW2 British Army Officers Overcoat - Royal Norfolk Regiment

SOLD

Code: 51209

An original British Army Officers Overcoat, often referred to as an ‘Officers Warm’ which belonged to Captain C.R.Parfitts of the Royal Norfolk Regiment.

C.R. Parfitt served with the Royal Norfolk Regiment during the Second World Ward from approximately 1943 until the end of hostilities. I am not sure as to which battalion he served with although this should be possible to find out with further research.

This style of officers coat started to be seen around the turn of the century and was reasonably popular in the First World War as well as the Second World War. It is made from a heavy khaki wool serge and features a contrasting blanket lining making it a very warm coat. The coat features a double breasted closure to the front which fastens with leather football buttons as are commonly found on this style of coat.

Two internal pockets are present inside the coat as is the original throat piece. The sleeves feature a fully functioning cuff as illustrated in the pictures. This is always a sign of an expensive and well made coat and gives the coat that extra bit of quality.

The coat is a good size and will fit around a 42" chest depending on desired fit.

When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 19 1/4"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 21"
Length - 48"

The condition of the coat is good but it has seen plenty of use with the nap go the serge being well worn in numerous places. It still displays well and has no serious issues or problems that I can find.

All in all a nice original Second World War coat which warrants further research. This would make a great addition to any collection without a doubt!
