Original WW2 Khaki Drill Shorts

SOLD

Code: 51256

A nice original pair of Second World War period British Khaki Drill Shorts.

These shorts, like the majority of KD items, are theatre made and quite likely Indian. The British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy were all supplied with KD manufactured in India such as this whilst serving in the Middle and Far East as the supply chains were shorter than shipping clothing from England.

This particular pair of shorts are typical of the era being made from a soft cotton drill and featuring a button fly, waist adjusters and a ticket pocket. The button holes are all hand stitched as is usual with theatre made items.

The shorts should be a good fit on someone of around a 32" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 16 1/4"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 16"

The shorts are in reasonable condition for their age but have plenty of signs of wear and use. There is fraying around the pocket openings and to the fly with a small hole to the bottom of one of the pocket openings. There is some staining etc all of which is to be excepted from a pre-owned pair of shorts which are 70 years old. Please study the pictures as these points are detailed.

Altogether a reasonably good pair of wearable 1940s KD Shorts.
