Original WW2 Royal Marines Khaki Drill Trousers

SOLD

Code: 51259

An original pair of Royal Marine pattern Khaki Drill Trousers dating from the Second World War.

This pattern of KD trousers is specific to the Royal Marines and differs from those used by the British Army and RAF. Made from the usual khaki colour cotton drill drill, the trousers feature a wide leg with 10" cuff, fishtail back and belt loops. The fly fastens with standard British stamped brass buttons with more fitted to the outside of the waistband which are for attaching braces.

Whilst a large amount of Khaki Drill items are theatre made, these trousers are clearly British made. They feature their original issue label which is sadly somewhat washed out leaving the details hard to read. There is a Royal Marines number stamped to the label and twice more to the interior of the waistband.

The trousers will fit someone of around a 30-32" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 16"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Cuff - 10"

The trousers are in good wearable condition and display well. They have clearly been worn and have various mark and minor staining from use. There appears to have been a First Field Dress pocket stitched to the front right hip at some stage although this has been removed.

All in all these are a nice pair of trousers in a rare pattern not often seen on the market. They are a great cut and have some interesting details making them an excellent addition to any collection.
