Original 1940s Theatre Made British Khaki Drill Trousers

SOLD

Code: 10655

An original pair of theatre made Khaki Drill Trousers dating from around the time of the Second World War.

As is often the case with theatre made items, these trousers are impossible to date exactly as they are devoid of any stamps or labels. They are however typical of those made for British Service during the Second World. Made from the standard type of khaki coloured cotton drill material, the trousers feature a high rise and wide leg as was fashionable in the 1930s and 1940s. The front fastens with a button fly whilst button tab waist adjusters can be found, one on each hip. The interior has buttons to attach braces to and straight slash pockets are found on the hips. By the late 1940s angled hip pockets became the norm which helps to date these as earlier.

The original owner has stitched in his name tag to the interior which reads 'Booth'. The seat of the trousers has been let out but this has clearly been done at the time. It is a very neat job, the waistband has been replaced very well and the owners name tag has been fitted after the alteration.

The trousers are a good wearable size which will fit someone of around a 32-33" waist and have a generous 31 1/2" inside leg. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 17"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 17"
Inside leg - 31 1/2"
Cuff - 9"

The trousers are in good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. There are no signs of serious wear but there is some staining etc which is to be excepted of a 70+ year old pair of trousers. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn, vintage trousers.

A nice original wartime period pair of trousers in a hard to find wearable size. Ideal for the collector and re-enactor alike!
