Original 1945 Dated 1940 Pattern (Austerity) British Army Battledress

£195.00 Approx $242.84, €227.54

Code: 10619

An original pair of 1940 Pattern (Austerity) Battledress trousers dated 1945 and in good condition.

This pattern of trousers came into issue in 1942 replacing the earlier 1940 pattern. These are an austerity pattern which don't feature belt loops, covered pockets or tabs to the bottom of the legs as the earlier patterns did.

This particular example no longer retains its original factory label but does still bare the War Department WD stamp to the interior. This features the War Department broad arrow marking which is surmounted by the letter 'Z' which denotes 1945 as the year of issue.

An interesting manufacturers quirk is the use of butterscotch coloured buttons rather than the usual chocolate brown or green examples. It certainly sets the trousers aside from the usual late war BD trousers!

The trousers are a smaller size measuring at 15” across the waist and 30 1/2” on the inside leg.

The condition of the trousers is average with some signs of wear and use. There is some light moth grazing as detailed in the pictures and a mark to the left cuff. There are no serious issues and they display well but please study the pictures as these form part of the description.

Altogether a good original pair of war dated trousers in wearable condition. These would male a good addition to any WW2 collection.
