Original 1930s Men's French Collared Shirt

SOLD

Code: 10398

An original men's collared shirt made in France in approximately the 1930s.

This style of shirt was popular in rural France during the 1930s and 1940s. It features a spearpoint collar as was popular during this period and a half button, or 'tunic', front. It is made from a wool cotton mix designed to keep the wearer warm and is a pale pinstripe pattern. The cuffs and collar have been replaced with a similar but mismatched material and a square panel has been added to the front tail of the shirt where it must have originally worn though. There are other signs of period repairs and wear which can be seen in the pictures and are all typical of French workwear of this period.

The shirt is a generous larger size and should fit someone of a 42" chest depending on desired fit.

When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 19 1/4"
Collar - 16"

The shirt is in well used condition with various signs of wear and age. This is to be excepted of a vintage work shirt but please study the pictures carefully to get a good idea of the condition.

A nice original French shirt which would be ideal for a resistance or refugee display are impression.
