Original 1950 Pattern RAF Khaki Drill Shorts

SOLD

Code: 51293

An original pair of 'Trousers Khaki Drill (Airman) which have been cut down and turned into shorts.

This pattern of shorts actually came into issue with the Royal Air Force at the end of the Second World War but the official pattern came into issue a couple of years later. They saw service for a number of years with the British Army and RAF. This style with the cross belt fastening is now often referred to as 'Gurkha Shorts'.

The shorts feature the cross belt closure and come complete with their original chrome plate buckles. These are removable for washing purposes and are often missing from shorts and trousers offered on the market today.

Inside the shorts the original issue label is still present and states the size as 9 and the manufacturer as 'Moore, Taggart & Co Ltd'. Due to the style of waistband the shorts are slightly adjustable. When fastened they measure -

Waist - 15 3/4"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 15"

The shorts are in excellent condition with little to no signs of wear and display nicely. They certainly have plenty of wear left in them but bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-owned shorts and may have issues consummate with this.

A very nice example of this pattern of shorts which would make a good addition to any collection!
