Original 1950s Theatre Made British Army Officers Jungle Green Trousers

SOLD

Code: 51286

An original pair of British Army officers jungle green trousers in nice condition and dating from the 1950s.

These trousers are typical of those worn by British Army officers during the 1950s. They are clearly theatre made as is commonplace with tropical uniforms, most likely in India or the Far East. The lightweight cotton used for the pocket bags as well as the hand stitch button holes are typical of theatre made items such as this.

The trousers feature a button fly and side adjusters to the hips. Slash pockets can be found in the side seam along with a single rear pocket which fastens with a button that matches those of the fly and are typical of the 1950s.

The trousers are a rare larger size with a generous inside leg and should fit someone of around a 35-36" waist and 32 1/2" inside leg, depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 18 1/2"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 17 "
Inside leg - 32 1/2"
Cuff - 8 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition and whilst they have clearly been worn they have been well looked after. There are no signs of undue wear or laundering with the only visible flaw being a small repair to the seat which I have detailed in the photographs. They still have plenty of wear left in them but please remember that they are a pre-worn pair of vintage trousers and may have small issues consummate with their age.

A nice original pair of 1950s trousers in a hard to find larger wearable size.
