Original 1953 Dated 1950 Pattern Khaki Drill Shorts - Size 4

SOLD

Code: 51341

An original pair of 1950 Pattern British Khaki Drill Shorts clearly dated 1953.

This pattern of shorts actually came into issue with the Royal Air Force at the end of the Second World War but the official pattern came into issue a couple of years later. They saw service for a number of years with the British Army and RAF. This style with the cross belt fastening is now often referred to as 'Gurkha Shorts'.

The shorts feature the cross belt closure and come complete with their original chrome plate buckles. These are removable for washing purposes and are often missing from shorts and trousers offered on the market today.

Inside the shorts the original issue label is still present and states the size as No.4 and the manufacturer as 'J. G. Greenway & Co Ltd'. The War Department broad arrow is also in evidence to the bottom of the label.

The shorts appear to be smaller than the size stated on the label and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 13 3/4"
Rise - 14 1/4"
Rear rise - 14 1/4"

The shorts are in good wearable condition with no major signs of undue wear. They do have signs of age including some staining. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage shorts.

All in all a nice pair of original early 1950s Khaki Drill Shorts!
