Original British 1950 Pattern Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

SOLD

Code: 51379

An original British 1950 Pattern Khaki Drill Bush Jacket dating from the 1950s.

This pattern of jacket closely follows the design of those used during the Second World War. It is made from cellular cotton, or ‘Airtex’ as it is often referred to and features pleated chest pockets and lower flapped pockets.

The jacket is fitted with revolving shank buttons which fasten the front, the epaulettes and the chest pockets. All are held in place with the correct brass split rings. The cuff fastens with chocolate brown buttons which are stitched directly to the tunic. The epaulettes feature holes where officers rank stars have previously been fitted.

There is no label inside the tunic although there is a clear outline of where one was original stitched. The original owner has also marked his name to the interior in ink which reads 'R. C. Pike'.

When laid flat the tunic measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 32"

The jacket is in good condition for its age but It does have signs of wear and use which can be seen in the pictures along with the other odd mark here and there. Please study the pictures carefully as they form part of the description and remember that this is a pre-worn vintage item.

A nice original 1950s cellular cotton jacket which would make a good addition to a collection.
