Original 1942 Dated Skirts, A.R.P. 72.

SOLD

Code: 50801

An original wartime ARP 72 skirt made by 'Marinker & Co' in 1942.

This pattern of skirt was worn by the Civil Defence, Air Raid Warden's and the National Fire Service amongst others. Wartime photographs show it being worn with both the four pocket tunic and the battledress blouse. It is made up from panel sections and features a button a pop studs to close it at the waist.

Inside the waistband is lined with a white material which bares the War Department broad arrow marking. This is surmounted by the letter 'O' which is correct from 1942 issue.

Further down inside the skirt the original manufactures label can be found. It states the skirt as being a size No. 12 which will fit height 5'4" - 5'6", waist 30-32" and hips 40-42". It also bares the 1942 date and War Department broad arrow.

The condition of the skirt is average. Whilst it displays reasonably well there is some damage, mainly the bottom of the skirt, as detailed in the photographs. Due to the nature and colour of the material it would be quite possible to repair this invisibly.

All in all a rare home front women's item which is becoming hard to find.
